About Wasini Island

Wasini Island is a 600-hectare coral outcrop off the southern coast of Kenya. Accessible only by boat from Shimoni, it features a traditional Swahili culture and a slow pace of life. There are no cars or roads here, so all exploration is on foot.

Most visitors arrive on a full-day tour from Diani Beach or Mombasa. These trips typically include snorkeling in the nearby Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park. Watch for green sea turtles and dolphins in the Ocean & Marine Life.

On land, you can walk the raised wooden paths of the Village & Corals. The community boardwalk winds through fossilized coral formations and a mangrove forest.

We were picked up from our hotel at the specified time and driven to the Kisite Mpungut Marine reserve. We were lucky as we only had 5 people on our boat. The captin was very knowledgeable about the area. The highlight of the trip, seeing the dolphins!! I then went snorkelling and seen loads of fish and a turtle! The Ksite Island sand bank appeared and it looked amazing! If you get the chance do this trip
